We’re tired of politicians claiming to know what Australians want without showing how they know, while the loudest voices get treated as the voice of the country.
We built AussieTally so people can share their views and see how others voted, with public results that anyone can check rather than relying on someone else’s version of public opinion.
Our aim is to bring more evidence into public debate and make it harder for decision-makers to dismiss views that don’t suit their argument.
If we want more transparency in public debate, we need to hold ourselves to the same standard by being open about our results, our funding and how the platform works.
Our results are public and free to download, so you can draw your own conclusions and check the claims others make about them. We explain what the numbers can tell you and where their limits are.
AussieTally is self-funded because we believe Australians’ views should be easier to see and harder to misrepresent. We don’t receive outside funding, and we’ll be open about it if that changes.
We’re committed to making our code publicly available so people can inspect how AussieTally works, question our methods and help us improve them.
You should be able to share your views without having your individual vote made public. We publish grouped results without phone numbers or individual vote records, and hide small groups to help protect privacy.
